GPS Tracking Report

In this lesson, we explain how to consult and use the GPS tracking report.

Objectives of the lesson :

  • Understand the details that are displayed in each column of the report
  • Understand how to use filters
  • Know how to intervene in case of geolocation reporting issues

Why was the GPS tracking report created?

As is the case with several other reports that are accessible in the “Reports & Statistics” section of TowSoft, the GPS tracking report aims to inform the administrators of towing companies of the geolocation data that was obtained during the execution of calls during a given day.

Thanks to this report, administrators can therefore intervene in the event that they notice anomalies in the collection of geolocation data.

Explanation of filters and columns in the report

Filters

First of all, you can use the 4 filters at the top of the table, in order to filter the calls according to their start date, the company or the driver who executed them and, finally, according to specific problems that may have happened in the collection of data.

Columns

# -> Number of the call in question. Click it to go to the call sheet in a new window.

Company -> Company by which the call was executed (will always be the same if you only have one).

Start date -> Date on which the call was taken

End date -> Date on which the call was completed

Intervention type -> Type of intervention defined for the call. Will display N/D, if there is none.

Service -> Service code + Label of the type of service if a type has been associated with the code in the configuration of your services. In addition, it will also be displayed if this is an appointment.

Tow truck -> Tow truck used for the call.

Origin & Destination -> Will be empty if the call status change logs have not been recorded in the call log. Will display an “X” in red, if the logs have been collected, but the position could not be collected at that time. Will display a green location icon if the call status change log, as well as the position, could be captured.

Geolocation data collected @ call status change

Geolocation data not collected @ call status change

* Users of the old version of the TowSoft application (V3) must allow their smartphone’s web browser to enable this position capture.

Allow the web browser to know your location

Geolocation -> Will indicate the number of geolocation data points that were collected during the call. Collecting this type of data is ONLY possible when using the TS4 mobile application or a GPS device in the tow truck. If nothing was collected through either option, you will see a red location icon in this cell.

No geolocation data collected during the call (thru TS4 or GPS tracking device)

Driver -> Indicates the name of the driver who will have executed out this call

What kind of interventions can I make after consulting this report?

The interventions that you will be able to make are particularly useful in order to improve the quality and quantity of geolocation data that you will have to track your company’s activity, but more specifically, to provide to your roadside assistance/motor club clients.

In the event of empty cells in the Origin and/or Destination columns

If the cells in the “Origin” and “Destination” columns are empty, you should check with the driver in question to see what may have happened. See with him if he correctly reports all the status changes during his calls.

In the case of “x” icons in red in the Place of intervention and delivery columns

If the cells in the “Origin” and “Destination” columns contain a “x” in red, you need to diagnose the geolocation data collection problems.

1- Does the driver use the TS4 mobile application? If so, see #2. If he is using the old application, he absolutely must allow the web browser to use his location.

2- Did the driver give access to his position to the TS4 application when he downloaded it? If not, it will have to be authorized. Look for the “Permissions & Notifications in Mobile App” lesson in the TowSoft Academy platform to know how to do it.

In case of location icon in red in the Geolocation column

If the “Geolocation” column displays a red location icon, it means that the geolocation captures during the call route could not be made. As mentioned above, if the driver is not using the TS4 app and does not have a GPS device in the tow truck, this is normal. However, if this is not the case, there may be a problem with the devices used. Ensure that all permissions have been granted to the TS4 application or that the GPS device is properly configured in TowSoft.
